Jeremy Coon is a native Texan who graduated in film and business from Brigham Young University in 2002. While attending BYU, he met writer/director Jared Hess which led to their collaboration on the award winning short PELUCA, which Coon produced and edited. After the success of PELUCA, Coon was able to secure funding for his feature-length producing and editing debut NAPOLEON DYNAMITE.
NAPOLEON premiered in Dramatic Competition at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival where it was acquired by Fox Searchlight Pictures and released in the summer of 2004 to much critical and financial success. Coon recently completed the comedy THE SASQUATCH DUMPLING GANG (again as producer and editor) with writer/director Tim Skousen and co-producer Kevin Spacey. SASQUATCH won the audience award at the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival as well as Best Director and Best Actor at the 2006 HBO US Comedy Arts Festival. The film was acquired by Sony BMG's new film division and a theatrical release is planned later this year. |
